Before you add cigars to a new wood humidor, you must season it first. Don't mess with the wipe-down method, which only provides 2% of the moisture the wood really needs. Conduct a thorough seasoning in just one-step with Boveda 84% RH. There's nothing to measure, fill or spill. Just add the pack to an empty humidor and Boveda will automatically prep your humidor for cigar storage.

Ordered the 84RH seasoning packs for my new cedar humidor and the process was simple and easy. I dropped nine packs into my new box 13 days ago as of this review and the box is sitting at 79% humidity and tomorrow will mark the end of the 14 day seasoning process. I’ll remove the packs, put my sticks within, along with a 69% Boveda pack and close the door. It doesn’t get any easier than this. My next move is to reseason my electric humidor that I’ve had for several years in the same manner and I’ll have two perfectly good boxes for all my sticks.

Used this as directed in my new cedar humidor- RH is only 54% after 2 weeks. Humidor is tight (dollar bill test). Dry climate location- Colorado.
BOBoveda® Official Site7 months agoThank you for your review and feedback. The relative humidity (RH) inside a humidor doesn’t matter while you’re seasoning with Boveda 84% RH packs. Just ignore your hygrometer for 14 days.
Why? A hygrometer only measures the amount of moisture in the air inside your humidor. While Boveda for Seasoning packs are in your humidor, they increase the moisture within the cell structure of the wood, not the air. We call that the free water space. A hygrometer can’t measure the moisture in wood, so forget about the RH readings for now.
Just so you know, Boveda scientists have tested how much moisture it takes to “fill up” a wood humidor’s free water space. To fully season a 100-count wood humidor, it needs about 100 grams of moisture. Each Size 60 Boveda 84% RH releases about 35 grams of moisture. That’s why we recommend using four seasoning packs for a 100-count humidor (35 grams x 4 = 140 grams).
