Once a wood humidor has lost moisture, you'll have a tough time maintaining the right humidity to protect your cigars. Your RH will be perpetually low, and your Boveda probably won't last as long.

Includes: seasoning packets, hygrometer calibration kit, and humidor bag(s) for cigar storage. (Humidor not included.)

Information

DETAILS:

Both heating and air conditioning scrub the air of moisture, which makes your wood humidor work harder—it can happen fast if you're not on top of it. Don't let the dry air that surrounds your humidor affect the cigars inside your humidor.

Once a wood cigar humidor has lost moisture, you'll have a tough time re-hydrating the wood and protecting your cigars at the same time. Your relative humidity (RH) will be perpetually low. And your Boveda probably won't last as long.

This Boveda Humidor Tune Up Kit has everything you need to re-season your humidor + re-calibrate your hygrometer. Includes Boveda Humidor Bag(s) cigar storage. (Humidor not included.)

Regular Tune Up Kit for Wood Humidors includes:

  • Three (3) Size 60 B84 packets
  • One (1) Hygrometer Calibration Kit preloaded with B75 packet
  • One (1) Large Humidor Bag preloaded with B69 packet

Large Tune Up Kit for Wood Humidors includes:

  • Six (6) Size 60 B84 packets
  • One (1) Hygrometer Calibration Kit preloaded with B75 packet
  • Three (3) Large Humidor Bags each preloaded with B69 packet

If you live in a dry climate or at high altitude, reseason your wood humidor every six (6) months.

HOW TO USE:

STEP 1, EMPTY YOUR HUMIDOR AND RELOCATE YOUR CIGARS INTO THE HUMIDOR BAG(S):

  • Unzip the bag using the plastic zipper, which will reveal a heat seal.
  • Apply firm pressure to pull the opening of the bag apart to break the heat seal. (It might feel like you’ll rip the bag, but you won’t. Just give it a really good tug.)
  • Run your finger up and down to separate the rest of the opening. Add cigars. (The preloaded B69 is not individually overwrapped, so it’s ready to protect your cigars.)
  • Gently slide the zipper closure on top to securely seal the humidor bag.

STEP 2, SEASON YOUR WOOD HUMIDOR:

  • Remove the clear overwrap from the B84 packets.
  • Place the unwrapped seasoning packets inside the EMPTY wood humidor.
  • Close the lid and DO NOT OPEN THE HUMIDOR FOR 14 DAYS—no matter what the hygrometer readings are.
  • After 14 days, open the humidor, remove the seasoning packets, and discard them—they aren’t reusable.
  • Move cigars back into your seasoned humidor.
  • Add in Boveda B72 packets.

STEP 3, CALIBRATE YOUR HYGROMETER:

  • Place your hygrometer/sensor inside the kit and completely reclose the zipper.
  • Allow the kit to sit for a minimum of 24 hours at a room temperature between 65 and 75°F.
  • Check the reading of the hygrometer/sensor:
    - If the reading is 75% RH, this calibration is complete.
    - If the reading is higher or lower than 75% RH: Note the difference as the margin of error for future readings. Or manually adjust your settings to 75% RH and repeat the above three (3) steps.
  • Reclose the bag with the Boveda packet inside to reuse the kit within three (3) months.

To keep a hygrometer performing effectively, recalibrate it every six (6) months.

  • DO NOT mix different RH (Relative Humidity) levels within the same humidor.
  • DO NOT use Boveda in the same humidor with other humidification products because they'll counteract each other, and reduce the efficiency of the Boveda.

Unopened Boveda, Calibration Kit, and Humidor Bag: Up to two (2) years

ACCURACY:

The relative humidity (RH) inside your humidor doesn’t matter while you’re seasoning with B84 packets, so ignore your hygrometer readings for 14 days. After 14 days, B84 seasoning packets will raise the RH in your humidor to about 65%.

Boveda maintains inside relative humidity (RH) of +/-2% when using the recommended number of refill packets. Factors that adversely affect the expected results include a drafty humidor and/or extreme dry ambient conditions

INGREDIENTS:

Food-grade salt, purified water, and a food-grade thickening agent.

    Boveda tune up kit

Trying Boveda tune up kit for the first time. So far, it seems to be working as my humidor hydrometer is indicating 80 degress. Have a few more days of tune up and then we'll see how we the reseasoning has worked.
